Democracy is not a spectator sport. This year, River Network is strongly encouraging everyone to get involved in the democratic process. Registering to vote has never been easier, and you can do it on-line in a few moments.

If you needed additional motivation to participate in your democracy, River Network and Working Assets are joined forces on voter registration efforts. Working Assets will make a donation to River Network for each person who registers through this River Network link

River Network will use 100% of the Working Assets donations for river conservation programs and grants to support groups like Prairie Rivers Network and our affiliate groups, as well as others across America. You can register to vote and raise money for watershed protection at the same time!

Answers to some frequently asked questions about voter registration in Illinois:

What are the voter registration requirements in Illinois?
You must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years of age by election day
- Have been a resident of the precinct for at least 30 days

How do I register to vote?
You can download the National Mail Voter Registration Form from River Network's website.

Hurry up, the deadline for registration is 30 days prior to the election!
*Note: if you register by mail, you must vote in person the first time you vote

Do I ever need to re-register?
You only need to re-register if you:
- Change your name
- Move to a different address

How do I register for an absentee ballot?
You can obtain the application for an absentee ballot, either by mail or person, from your election authority. To find your county clerk and their contact information use the Election Authority search page
