Illinois Cost Share for Ecosystem Restoration Projects:
Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP)
The vast majority of NESP projects will be funded 100% by the Federal government but a portion will require funding by the states, typically for projects located on non-federally-owned land. On these projects the Cost Share will be 65% Federal and 35% State.
An initial increment of 227 of the 1,010 NESP restoration projects will be prosecuted during the 1st 15-year period of the 50-year program. Below is estimated Cost Share data provided to PRN by the Corps.
1st 15-years of NESP - Estimated 100± projects along/in Illinois
- Construction costs for projects on state-owned land: $6.8 million total
- Land Acquisition for floodplain restoration: $60 million total
- Total annual Construction and Land Acquisition costs are estimated to range from $2.7 to $5.3 million over the 15-year period
Ongoing costs for 1st 15-years of NESP projects
- Operation & Maintenance costs: $24.4 million total for 50-year period (increases to about $0.6 million annually by year 15 through year 50)
