Opponents to the proposed Hunter Reservoir for a supplemental Springfield water supply came out in strong force at an IEPA-hosted public hearing in December of 2008. As follow-up to the hearing and in an effort to detail the grounds on which Illinois EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers must not certify the project, Prairie Rivers Network and the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club submitted the following letters in opposition:
