I recently received the latest on the IEPA’s updated 319 grant application; please read on!

The Illinois EPA Nonpoint Source Unit has completed a significant update to the Section 319(h) Grant Application process. The Illinois EPA Web site (link below) now includes the following NEW documents:

1) Section 319(h) Request for Proposals,

2) Section 319(h) application,

3) Section 319(h) application INSTRUCTIONS, and

4) Organization Certifications and Grant Conditions.

If you plan to apply for the Section 319(h) Grant Program this year, take the time to review all four documents and allow adequate time to complete the new application. It is significantly different from the previous version and will require information that you may not have elected to provide in the past. Additional comments:

* The Request for Proposals outlines the program priorities, mailing information, submittal deadlines, etc. This document will answer many questions concerning the application submittal.

* The application allows the applicant to save data in typed fields and then save a copy of the form on the applicant’s computer. Adobe Reader 8 or greater is required to be able to access the application. You can download the latest version of the reader at http://get.adobe.com/reader/. The download is free.

* While completing the application, save the file often.

* Use the application instructions to help fill out the form. There are Web links and comments to help you determine the appropriate responses for your project.

* The Organization Certifications and Grant Conditions have been totally revised, your legal counsel may need additional time for their review.

* The next application deadline is close of business (a.k.a. 5:00 p.m. CST) on July 30th, 2010.

NOTE – The application form is a large PDF and it takes an average computer a bit of time to open. Be patient. Some computers have required a second attempt to get the file open and functioning.
