URGENT: National Clean Water Phone Congress Day - TODAY!
Let your fingers do the walking on National Clean Water Phone Congress Day!

How: Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected
with your U.S. Representative's office. If you cannot speak to him/her

The Message and Background Information
The US House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee held two historic
hearings on the bill in July. The Committee, under the leadership of
Chairman James Oberstar (MN), is now poised to vote and send it to the House
floor.
The message is simple: Please support the Clean Water Restoration Act (H.R.
2421) NOW. The Clean Water Restoration Act will restore longstanding
environmental protection under the Clean Water Act for ALL of our nation's
waters. The Act will ensure protection of waterways in communities across
the country whether they are large or small, rural or urban. The House needs
to pass this bill ASAP.
If your Representative is not a co-sponsor already, please encourage them to
become one. A current list of co-sponsors is attached to this message.
If your Representative is already a co-sponsor, please ask them to use their
influence to bring the bill to the House floor for a vote. For instance, you
can request that they speak to their colleagues about supporting the bill.
The best way to make Congress make this a high priority is for them to hear
from their constituents that this is a top concern.
It is important to emphasize that the Clean Water Restoration Act will
reaffirm the scope of the Clean Water Act as intended by Congress when it
passed the Clean Water Act more than 30 years ago.
Getting the bill passed in the House will provide the critical momentum we
will need to get support in the Senate. Our primary focus is the House at
this time, but if you have time to get in touch with your Senate offices
that would be very much appreciated as well. (The Senate bill number is
S.1870.)
