River Clean-ups Keep on Coming
Many of you recently participated in river clean-ups on September 17th, for It’s Our River Day. This astounding project generated over 60 river events and clean-ups that took place throughout our state. Great work everyone!
To keep the momentum going, there are at least two more clean-ups happening this month that need volunteers. Let’s continue supporting efforts to keep our rivers clean and healthy.
- 8th Annual Salt Fork River Clean-up (Oct. 8th, Homer).
Wear your hiking boots and help clean up the banks of the Salt Fork River, Homer Lake, Collins Pond, and trails leading to these sites. Or, bring your own canoes or flat-bottomed boats and help remove refuse from the river.
Be one of the first volunteers to arrive and receive a FREE polycarbonate re-usable water bottle. The clean-up ends at 12:30pm.

- Decatur Park District's Sangamon River Clean-up (Oct. 15th, 2005).
Volunteers will pick up debris along the riverbanks. The Park District is working in cooperation with the City of Decatur and Macon County Solid Waste on the clean-up project. Those interested in volunteering their time may arrive for the Sangamon River Clean-Up at 7:45 a.m. at the Lincoln Park pavilion.
