Happy 40th Anniversary to the Clean Water Act!
On this day 40 years ago, the U.S. House and Senate overrode a presidential veto and passed the Clean Water Act. This momentous legislation gave our nation the ability to work toward cleaning up our rivers, streams, and lakes so that we can use them for something other than waste disposal. Millions of people have used this law to protect their water from pollution and to clean up already polluted waters.Celebrate the Clean Water Act—the foundation of our work—and continue working to strengthen it so that we can achieve the dream of fishable, swimmable, and drinkable waters.
In fact, here is an opportunity for you to use the Clean Water Act today!
