Illinois has made historic progress in building a thriving and equitable clean energy economy with the passage of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), but we can’t stop there. This Clean Jobs Platform is a package of bills we’ll be advocating for that will lower greenhouse gas emissions, create green jobs, and make our communities healthier and safer. It includes:
- The Clean and Reliable Grid Act will accelerate our path to 100% clean renewable energy by upgrading our electric grid, removing barriers to clean energy development, and requiring transparency and public participation for ALL utilities–no loopholes!
- The Clean and Equitable Transportation Act will expand opportunities for walking, biking, public transportation, and the use of electric vehicles, to put us on a path to a zero emissions transportation sector.
- The Clean and Healthy Buildings Act will expand access to energy efficiency and electric appliances, and enact an equitable transition away from use of fracked gas in buildings.
Illinois communities continue to struggle with the impacts of pollution, extreme weather, and undue consumer burdens. Together, these bills represent the next step in stopping catastrophic climate change for Illinois.
