As members of the Board of Directors for Prairie Rivers Network, we are filled with pride and gratitude for the incredible progress made this year with your support.
Together, we’ve secured stronger protections against coal pollution; released groundbreaking exposés on climate risks in the Quad Cities and pesticide harm across Illinois; expanded our advocacy for clean energy; and empowered communities to take bold action for their water, land, and future.
Over the past two years, Prairie Rivers Network has dramatically grown our network across Illinois. We’ve hired nine new staff members, including in the Quad Cities, Chicagoland, Southern Illinois, and Western Illinois. We’ve also built a network of advocates who’ve driven record-breaking action to clean up pollution and protect our environment.
These successes are remarkable, but there is so much more to do. As we close a year projected to be the warmest on record, we face urgent environmental challenges and a shifting political landscape at the federal level that threatens to roll back critical protections. This is why we need to act now — and why your support is more important than ever.
To ensure Prairie Rivers Network has the resources to continue this essential work, the Board of Directors will match every dollar donated before Dec 31, up to $15,000.
That means your donation today will go twice as far to:
– Protect vital resources like the Mahomet Aquifer from the risks of carbon sequestration.
– Advocate for public river access, ensuring Illinoisans can enjoy and protect our waterways.
– Push for equitable clean energy investments to reach communities most in need.
The challenges ahead are significant, but with your support, Prairie Rivers Network will continue to lead in advancing climate solutions, safeguarding our environment, and ensuring a clean, just, and sustainable future for Illinois.
Join us today by making a donation that will be doubled through this $15,000 match. Together, we can build on this year’s momentum and tackle whatever lies ahead.
Thank you for your commitment to this critical work. We are honored to stand with you in protecting the natural places and communities that make Illinois so special.
With deep gratitude,
Jon McNussen, on behalf of the Prairie Rivers Network Board of Directors
