The Illinois Attorney General filed a complaint on February 4, 2013 against Ameren for the improper disposal of coal ash at the Duck Creek Power Generating Station near Canton, IL. Traci Barkley, Water Resources Scientist at Prairie Rivers Network, was quoted in the Peoria Journal Star:
We hope this will launch a full investigation by both Illinois EPA and Illinois DNR into our current state infrastructure and capacity to coordinate the proper monitoring and management of coal wastes to ensure protection of our water supplies, resources and communities.”
