Illinois has an abundance of fresh water.
120,000 miles of rivers and streams provide us with drinking water, protect us from floods, give home to countless wild species, and provide flowing waters for recreation and navigation. The benefits of rivers are truly innumerable. Rivers are the lifeblood of Illinois, and we must protect them.
Since our founding in 1967, Prairie Rivers Network has protected many of the state’s most important natural areas. These are the places you may have visited as a child and the places you, your children and your grandchildren visit today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
You can help protect them.
