As part of the crucial year-end stimulus package, the House and Senate passed this year’s Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). The bill provides an important roadmap for water-focused projects across the country, and while it is far from perfect, there are reasons to celebrate.
This time around, it increases available funding for restoration, research, and monitoring efforts along the Upper Mississippi River. And it authorizes a watershed study for the UMR that will help us understand the causes and impacts of flooding that will only get worse with climate change. We applaud this bipartisan effort!
