More than 1,000 violations of the Clean Air Act were found at the outdated Ameren E.D. Edwards coal-fired power plant in Bartonville, IL. The data showing these opacity violations was collected by Ameren at its own facilities. Opacity is one way of measuring particle pollution.
This lawsuit was brought by the Central Illinois Healthy Community Alliance, which is comprised of Prairie Rivers Network, Peoria Families Against Toxic Waste, Central Illinois Global Warming Solutions, and the Sierra Club Beyond Coal campaign in Illinois.
